Mission Priorities:
A Holistic Approach in An Unprecedented Time

Six mission priorities. One vision. When the children we support need critical aid, Compassion intervenes and addresses these barriers to healthy development. Your church can play a key role in supporting these priority initiatives, which are listed below. By choosing a priority your church family is passionate about, you equip our frontline church partners to quickly respond to these immediate, critical needs.

Since 1952, Compassion International has worked tirelessly to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Our holistic approach to child development lifts children out of spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty, giving them the best possible opportunity to reach their God-given potential and become contributing Christian adults who live by his Word. Today, more than 2 million children benefit from Compassion’s ministry, and each one of them is known, loved and protected. As pandemics, natural disasters and long-standing crises affect children across the world this year, now is a critical time to intervene in the lives of the most vulnerable, providing hope for a brighter future. During these volatile times, Compassion is reinforcing its commitment to the children in our care and adapting our holistic model as necessary to meet them where they are. And in the priorities that follow, we describe some of the most important ways we need your church’s help to meet the vital needs of children from conception through adulthood. We are confident that God will do extraordinary things in these unprecedented times, and it is with joy that we invite you to join us in his sacred work of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

6 Mission Priorities the Church Can Respond to:

WASH

Safe water and proper sanitation practices improve health so children can fully experience sponsorship. Assisting families with local water and sanitation sources, along with basic hygiene practices, enables more time for children to engage in core programs.

CHILD SURVIVAL

Every year, millions of babies are born into circumstances that threaten their survival. Compassion’s Survival priority provides pregnant women and mothers of infants with training, resources and support they need.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Compassion’s Youth Development priority provides youth ages 12 and older with customized training and educational paths according to their God-given talents and purposes. By pursuing education, these young people are equipped to generate incomes for their families.

WHERE MOST NEEDED

Hunger, illness and lack of shelter are the untold story for too many children. Compassion’s Where Most Needed priority provides for a variety of essential interventions desperately needed by children in poverty.

UNSPONSORED CHILDREN'S FUND

Approximately 260,000 children are enrolled in Compassion programs while they wait for a sponsor. When we register a new child, it several months to find a sponsor for that child. This priority provides aid, nutritious food and medical care to children waiting for sponsors.

DISASTER RELIEF

Donating to the Disaster Relief Fund is a tangible demonstration of the meaning of compassion. In times of disaster, vulnerable children living in poverty need immediate help. Your donation will help a child recover physically, emotionally and spiritually.
